Description
Set of three .45-70 Government snap-caps. This cartridge was adopted by the US Army in the early 1870's and was used in the Army's "Trap door" Springfield (M1873, M1888), as well as rifles such as the Sharps. It served in the Army until replaced by the 30-40 Krag-Jorgenson rifle in the 1890's, but some still saw action as late as the Spanish-American War in the hands of US Army Guardsmen and Reservists. Notably, it was used by Custer's men at the Little Big Horn. It was also very popular with civilians, especially in the West when buffalo hunting was prevalent.Available with spent primers remaining, empty primer pockets, holes drilled in the cases, or rubber inserts added to the primer pockets.
Great addition to your western or Spanish-American War re-enactment kit or display with your fine piece of American history.
